Film: "The Bride"
In her debut film, director Myriam Uwiragiye Birara takes a look at a young woman who makes her own decisions and strives for education. Birara's portrayal of a friendship against the backdrop of a forced marriage and her quiet thematization of the genocide are outstanding. With its minimalist aesthetic, the film succeeds in conveying a certain melancholy, beauty and sensitivity.
The film will be shown in its original language with English subtitles. Content warning: Sexual violence/genocide.
